I have to design a serial adder and I understand how I need to desgin it but when it comes to the code i get very confused.

THe constraints are that I need to add two 8 bit binary numbers serially.

Each number is loaded via parallel loading into two seperate shift registers and then two bits ( both LSB from each number) are feed into my fsmadder to be added, and then feed into another shift regester to be sent to the cooresponding LEDs.

Where Im getting confused is actually how to add the bits in my fsmadder portion.

I learned that I cant perform mathmatical operations with stdlogic, so given the truth table for the fsmout I tried to add them via XOR and XNOR except my timing diagram doesnt reflect this.

The input signals change at the same time as the rising clock edge.

The input data has to be stable before that time, that is some time before the rising clock edge.

That should give errors, because you can not use stdlogic signals without that library.
